After my family, the two great loves of my life are music and the French language. I am passionate about providing engaging, effective and early second-language instruction to young children, leveraging my own skills as a teacher and musician.
Born into a multi-lingual family in Sydney, where French was my mother-tongue, I believe I was given a unique insight into how language is learnt. Inspired by my passion for music, I moved to Paris where I lived and worked as a jazz vocalist and educator for 22 years. I was fortunate to perform in jazz clubs, festivals and theatres throughout Europe, including Festival d’Avignon, Montreux Jazz Festival, St Raphael Jazz Festival and many others. I also used my language skills to teach ESL in the corporate world and teach improvisation to Jazz students.
When I came back to Australia in 2010, I fused my love of music and language to start my own business - Ecole Mélodie – where children of all ages learn French through music, art, performance and play. I am currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Teaching Languages and Bilingualism at Western Sydney University. Ecole Melodie has run successful programs at St Stephens Child Care, Woollahra Preschool, Vaucluse Public, Double Bay Public and is starting at Rose Bay Public and the International French School in 2019.
